Bianbain/Edges: Feminist Dynamics and FLAME Methodology
To realize our vision of a just, equal, and sustainable society, we commit to promoting and developing interactive leadership training, new media, social education, and international advocacy with standpoints of feminism and sex/gender diversities.
Thus, the term “bianbain/edges” embodies the feminist dynamics in which we engage in sex/gender equality movement in and out of different edges of daily life, local society, and the national borders.
In Chinese, “bian/edge” can be used as an adverb as well, meaning oblique and eccentric. Hence, “bianbain/edges” demonstrates our work methodology that concerns all kinds of forces and frames that oppress women and sexual minorities as well as sexualized/gendered subjects who have been consciously exiled by the heteropatriarchy to various margins.
By the methodology of “bianbain/edges,” we insist on criticizing sex/gender inequality and heteronormativity from feminist and queer perspectives. From the position of “bianbain/edges,” we care about the sex/gender politics in daily home economics, digital technology, body image, and reproductive health, and we, too, pursue the economic justice and environmental equality for all.
Starting from different edges, we hope to develop connections across borders, from the local to the regional, from the regional to the transnational. Assembling the strength of the individuals and groups oppressed by sexed/gendered stereotypes, we are going to produce discourses, to subvert stigmas, and to create knowledges through feminist perspectives and queer experiences.
