What can we learn from feminist creators across Southeast Asia?
In 2025, we traveled to Manila, Jakarta, and Ipoh to connect with feminist creators and communities through conversations and exchanges. Virgule in the cyber garden invites you to explore the stories, creative practices, and possibilities that emerge through these cross-border encounters.

A collective of independent artists, curators, and researchers. Using the pasar (market) as a site of creative practice, the collective makes art more accessible while exploring possibilities for self-expression, creativity, and community connection.
展覽名稱中的小樹枝 ──「Virgule」源自拉丁語，亦指符號「/」。它既象徵著分岔與界線，也象徵著連結與開端。如一株從樹幹傷口裂縫處重新生長的小枝，提醒我們差異不必被抹去，而能並存、生長，彼此依靠。
本展緩緩訴說邊邊女力於2024至2025年間，與東南亞女性主義創作者的往來與相遇。
從在台北舉辦的南亞／東南亞女性主義創作者小聚，到走訪菲律賓馬尼拉、印尼雅加達、馬來西亞怡保，我們拜訪了Feminist Media Lab、Purplecode collective 與 Kinta Zine Club。
她們以不同的創意語言發聲 ──
有人透過影視媒介與鋼管舞倡議女性身體的自主與力量，
有人以讀書會與黑客松拆解僵化的二元性別想像，
有人在市場與社群中 ，用藝術開啟新的在地對話。
這些相遇讓我們重新感受到，女性主義創作不僅是一種立場表達，更是一種療癒與連結。
展覽特別選在「國際反性別暴力16日」期間展出，邀請每一位觀者，在光與暗並存的賽博時代裡，一同思考：我們如何能以更具自由度的創作方式，在日常的縫隙裡，慢慢種下一座屬於我們的女性主義花園：一個包容多元、自由、安全，並以集體關照為根的所在。
The small branch in the exhibition title, Virgule, takes its name from the Latin word that also refers to the symbol “/”. It represents both separation and connection, boundaries and beginnings. Like a young shoot emerging from a crack in the wounded trunk of a tree, it reminds us that differences do not need to be erased—they can coexist, grow, and support one another.
This exhibition traces Borderless Women’s encounters and exchanges with feminist creators and communities across Southeast Asia between 2024 and 2025.
From hosting gatherings with South and Southeast Asian feminist creators in Taipei to visiting Manila, Jakarta, and Ipoh, we connected with Feminist Media Lab, PurpleCode Collective, and Kinta Zine Club.
Each community engages with feminism through its own creative language. Some explore bodily autonomy and women’s agency through film, media-making, and pole dance. Others challenge rigid understandings of gender through reading groups and hackathons. Still others foster new forms of local dialogue through community-based artistic practices.
Through these encounters, we were reminded that feminist creative practice is more than a way of expressing political beliefs. It can also be a space for healing, solidarity, and connection.
Presented during the annual 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence, this exhibition invites visitors to reflect on how we might cultivate greater freedom through creative practice in a digital age shaped by both light and shadow. Together, we imagine a feminist garden taking root in the cracks of everyday life—one that embraces diversity, nurtures safety and freedom, and grows through collective care.
